2021 Lexus RC F Review

With a huge V-8 engine under the hood and rear-wheel drive, the 2021 Lexus RC F packs a punch to the brand’s luxury coupe lineup. The inside is enough for two people, but the back seat is insufficient for adults. Fortunately, Lexus delivers comfortable bucket seats and a multitude of luxury features for front-seat occupants. All of the interior components are of high quality, especially the robust dashboard and leather seats. A complete range of driver-assistance technology is also included, as is a well-connected infotainment system.

Exterior

The RC F is equipped with 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, a spoiler, a black grille with metallic accents, automatic LED headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers as standard. It also features heated side-view mirrors with turn signals built-in. This model boasts upgraded features such as carbon-ceramic Brembo brake rotors.

Interior

The Lexus RC F sports vehicle comes with an optional Lexus Safety System+ suite of driver-assistance technologies, which includes features like forward-collision warning and adaptive cruise control.

Interior features include simulated leather upholstery, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Lexus’ fascias must be improved in terms of clarity and simplicity. Except for the drive mode rotary controller, it looks like there isn’t a single square inch of flat, driver-facing real estate that isn’t covered by a switch or knob. Their presence simplifies some jobs once you understand out what they’re all about.

Engine & Transmission

The 5.0-liter V-8 engine that powers all 2021 Lexus RC F coupes produces 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. For 2020, the RC F has a minor power boost and a lower curb weight. The RC F lineup is limited to a single model: a petrol V8 with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a single-engine choice. It speeds from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds and has a peak speed of 155 miles per hour (241 kilometers per hour).

At idling, the engine is pleasingly smooth and mild, but at full speed, it is sharp and explosive. The way the V8 interacts with the automatic transmission tends to divide the driving experience of the vehicle. This is a problem for a coupé, whose richness and performance should be most apparent at medium-high, brisk yet unhurried cross-country speeds.

Fuel economy

The Lexus RC F has a city/highway fuel economy of 16/24 mpg. The RC F outperformed the EPA’s estimate of 26 mpg in a 75-mph highway fuel efficiency test.

Safety and driver assistance features

Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection is standard.

Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist is standard.

Adaptive cruise control is standard.

Price

A basic RC F costs 9619088.58 yen The RC F Carbon costs an extra 1064731.50 yen.

Conclusion

Although the RC’s superb visibility and large front cabin are benefits, the rear is tight. The Lexus RC is tough to recommend simply on value grounds due to its high starting price and uninspiring driving experience. There are a plethora of automobiles that offer a better combination of luxury and sportiness than the RC.
